Hello, my name is Rowan Geiser, and this is my website dedicated to sharing my love of Magic:The Gathering. It’s more than a card game. It has allowed me to develop strong friendships while also fostering creativity, language, and strategic thinking skills, and reinforcing math concepts. My goal is to share this game with young people and eventually raise enough funds to allow kids who may not have access to the game to learn how to play. On this website, you can expect to find the times when group lessons and events are held, information on Magic: The Gathering, additional websites that may be helpful to new players, and a little about me.
About Magic: The Gathering
Magic: The Gathering is an imaginative card game that teaches kids math, new vocabulary words, strategic thinking, sportsmanship, and teamwork. From when I started playing Magic: The Gathering until now, I have recognized that all these skills have grown in me (my teachers have even commented on the impact of the game on my language skills); as I'm sure they will in any young players as well. Magic: The Gathering is a card game created in 1993 with over 27,000 unique cards, allowing all players to experience the game in their own way and use their unique creativity to help win games. The objective of the game is to lower your opponent's life total to zero by casting powerful spells and summoning creatures to your command. You do this by harnessing the forces of nature and the land.
About Rowan
I was born in 2011 and I am 14 years old. I was born in Chicago and lived there for 7 years until moving to Ann Arbor. I was exposed to Magic: The Gathering in 1st grade at an after school club, but I never learned how to play until 4th grade. From that point on Magic has become my greatest passion and I am starting this program to share that love with others. I am currently a freshman at Pioneer High School and I am a member of the Pioneer crew team. Football is my other primary interest and my favorite team is the Chicago Bears. When I am not playing Magic with my friends or studying, I enjoy playing with my two dogs, Foxy and Boon.
